Makani Cambridge specialises in co-design and co-production that centres joy, collective care, and anti-oppressive practice.
We are a grassroots community interest company rooted in the belief that transformative change begins in relationships: with ourselves, with each other, and with the systems we inhabit. Our approach is grounded in the knowledge that communities hold deep wisdom and that sustainable, equitable solutions must be shaped with, not for, those most affected by the issues at hand.
Our work spans three main areas:
Community Engagement and Events
Participatory Research and Consultancy.
Across all our services, we bring a somatic and trauma-informed lens that recognises how oppression lives in the body and how healing must be relational. We design and hold spaces with deep intentionality — using rhythm, storytelling, movement, and moments of pause to support regulation, safety, and creativity.
At Makani Cambridge, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. We work slowly and intentionally, co-creating with our partners and community members every step of the way. We ask: What would it mean to move at the speed of trust? How can we lead and learn in ways that honour our wholeness? Our work is not about extraction, performance, or perfection — it’s about weaving new possibilities together, with care.
Whether you’re a grassroots group, a national funder, or a team seeking to reimagine how you work, we’d love to connect. Let’s build something beautiful, and liberatory, together.
