Offerings for Organisations

Reimagining Leadership and Organisational Culture

At Makani Cambridge, we believe that wellbeing and justice are inseparable. We work at the intersection of culture, leadership, and equity, helping organisations build environments where people can thrive together.

Our approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and joy-centred. We draw on embodied practice, storytelling, and collective care to shift systems from within — one conversation, one heartbeat, one shared rhythm at a time.

We partner with organisations, institutions, and networks across sectors to reimagine how they lead, connect, and create impact. Whether you are beginning an equity journey or deepening existing work, we co-design spaces that nurture reflection, authenticity, and courageous change.

1. Leadership & Team Development

We design and facilitate transformative learning experiences that help leaders and teams grow their collective capacity for equitable, trauma-informed, and power-aware practice.
Our workshops and programmes invite people to pause, listen, and reconnect with their values and each other. Through reflection, dialogue, movement, and shared rhythm, we explore what it means to lead and belong in ways that are sustainable and life-giving.

We create spaces where courage and care can coexist, where authenticity is celebrated, and where leadership becomes a shared act rather than an individual performance.

Potential formats include:

  • Leadership development programmes and retreats
  • Team away days and reflective practice spaces
  • Reflective supervision
  • Drumming and rhythm-based wellbeing sessions to nurture connection, joy, and collaboration
  • Workshops on:
    • Power, belonging, and collective care
    • Makani’s Pathways to Trauma-Informed Practice
    • Organisational values and culture
    • Conflict transformation and feedback culture
    • Understanding lived experience and equitable leadership

2. Equity Consultancy & Participatory Research

We support organisations to move beyond performative inclusion towards meaningful, systemic transformation rooted in justice and belonging.
Our approach combines participatory and decolonial research methods with facilitation and co-design, creating spaces where collective wisdom can surface and power can be reimagined.

We work alongside teams to map lived experiences, name patterns of inequity, and co-create pathways that embed equity, accountability, and care into the fabric of organisational life.

Our consultancy balances strategy and embodiment, ensuring that change is not only conceptual but also relational, felt, and sustained.

Potential areas of support include:

  • Embedding equity and collective care into leadership and governance structures
  • Participatory and decolonial research and inquiry processes
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDI&B) reviews and audits
  • Organisational culture change and strategic facilitation
  • Co-design and community engagement frameworks
  • Developing wellbeing and reflective practice strategies

3. Creative Wellbeing & Engagement

We bring Makani’s cultural and creative roots into organisational life.
Through drumming, Dabkeh, storytelling, and other communal practices, we invite teams to rediscover connection and imagination as sources of resilience.

Our creative sessions are joyful, grounding, and accessible to all — helping teams strengthen trust, presence, and a sense of shared humanity.

Examples of sessions include:

  • Creative team-building and wellbeing workshops
  • Drumming and Joy circles for connection and release
  • Story circles and arts-based reflection
  • Playful, movement-based approaches to team cohesion

These sessions remind us that wellbeing is not a luxury or an afterthought, but a collective practice that sustains meaningful work.

4. Talks & Keynotes

Our team regularly speaks at conferences, festivals, and organisational gatherings to share learning from our community and systems work.
We bring lived experience, rigour, and embodiment to topics such as:

  • Collective and trauma-informed leadership
  • Decolonial and anti-oppressive practice
  • Lived experience and equitable systems change
  • Joy, rest, and belonging as strategies for transformation

Each talk is adapted to context and audience, weaving stories, reflection, and practice in a way that sparks both thought and feeling.

How We Work

Every partnership begins with deep listening. We take time to understand your context, culture, and aspirations, co-designing processes that honour where you are and support where you want to go.

Our methods weave together facilitation, somatic practice, systems thinking, and cultural wisdom — creating spaces where learning is not only intellectual but embodied and alive.

We believe that change happens at the pace of relationship, and that every organisation has within it the seeds of collective care, creativity, and courage.
